The first thing you will notice about this software is the speed with which it was installed. In fact, the whole process, from the beginning of the installation to the opening of the program at the end, took just under two minutes. Just for fun, you can also test on a Windows machine nearby.
Although there are a variety of different operations, many of which are not really related, they all start from a single interface. This includes a variety of general optical and disk imaging operations, as well as specialized audio and video options, cover design and even some basic file backups.
Almost all operations that you can perform with Ashampoo use a similar wizard interface. In almost all cases, you start with a file selection window. After that, there will usually be some questions and options specific to the specific type of work, such as selecting the format (MP3 or WMA) for audio encoding or the TV system (PAL or NTSC) for DVD-Video. In the end, it will be an option to select a CD / DVD / Blu-ray burner to complete the job.
Basic recording characteristics
As you would probably expect from a program called Burning Studio, the main focus is to burn discs. As with other similar programs, it supports copying discs (not DRM protected) and compiling your own discs. One thing that should be particularly pleasant for the tech-savvy person is that the options are explained in normal English. The operations for placing various types of media files on a disc, but not formatted as DVD-Video, Blu-ray film, audio CD or the like, are formulated as "Just Copy Music Files" or "Just Copy Movie Files".
There is also an automatic startup option, which can be as simple as running a specific program or as complex as an entire series of interactive menus. Overall, you can see that Ashampoo is geared towards less technical people. In fact, the reason you can create such a record is exactly for that type of person.
From others
a somewhat unique feature is editing an existing disc. If you have a CD, DVD or Blu-ray disc that you want to create a copy of with some files or folders added, removed or replaced with different versions, there is a convenient wizard for that. It even works with bootable discs.
There are several other options that are more or less standard for shooting programs. Ashampoo supports several disc formats. It can create or extract ISO, BIN / CUE or ASHDISC image files from Ashampoo itself. However, it does not support reading all image units. With tests, you can have no problems reading from a Daemon Tools virtual drive.
Image resources are definitely an area where Ashampoo Burning Studio is not very intuitive. More specifically, imaging is not intuitive. Instead of simply choosing an image file instead of a burner at the end of the process, you should start by selecting Create a project disc image.
